The Senate seems to be fictionalizing an alternative reality where Dear Leader Porn Star Humper did not just try to write off an Amendment to the U.S. Constitution because he thought it was woke. Again, whatever the hell woke is supposed to mean. Try fucking defining it first, coherently. Also, he just tried to pretend The Impoundment Control of 1975, a SCOTUS-approved law a couple of times over, did not exist. He seized control of the entire federal budget and the federal government’s payment system. He has shut down and locked out federal employees from several agencies’ computer systems. We usually call that criminal computer tampering. The constitution, federal law, practice, and decorum mean nothing right now. He is trying to blitz the quarterback every morning, morning after morning after morning. We are only a couple of weeks in, and it already feels like years…in an East German prison camp.
Does anyone have a plan for when he goes full-on Idi Amin? I mean full-torque, 100% bat guano, off-the-rail, 5150, Idi Amin megalomaniac Crazy McCrazyPants. The sky blue military jacket with a ridiculous amount of ribbons and medals he has awarded himself, the dark sunglasses, and the frightening list of similarities to Idi Amin.
Idi Amin, the military dictator of Uganda from 1971 to 1979, was a brutal and eccentric leader whose rule was marked by human rights abuses, economic collapse, and bizarre self-aggrandizement (it was Idi’s favorite hobby, that should sound familiar…). Amin seized power in a military coup (cough, cough. January 6th.) and quickly established a repressive regime, responsible for an estimated 300,000 deaths through political purges, ethnic persecution, and military violence. His erratic behavior included awarding himself extravagant titles, challenging world leaders to boxing matches, and claiming divine visions guided his decisions. Sarcastically, but I’m sure the Christians loved him.
He expelled 60,000–80,000 Asians from Uganda in 1972, devastating the economy as their businesses collapsed under inexperienced replacements. He gave the mostly Indian and Pakistani workers 90 days to get out of Uganda, claiming they were controlling trade, and Amin wanted to give the economy back to real Ugandans. To Make Uganda Great Again. Again, that should sound familiar.
The expulsion of Asians—many of whom were business owners—led to massive economic decline, hyperinflation, food shortages, and corruption, as Amin’s allies mismanaged confiscated assets. (Back up and read that again.) Internationally, Uganda became a pariah state, and foreign investment dried up. His erratic governance and hostility toward Tanzania ultimately led to his downfall when Tanzanian forces, along with Ugandan exiles, overthrew him in 1979. Amin fled into exile, first in Libya and later in Saudi Arabia, where he lived in luxury until he died in 2003. His rule remains one of the most infamous examples of authoritarian excess and economic self-destruction in modern African history.
So what are y’all going to do when Dear Leader Porn Star Humper dances into the East Room to YMCA and comes to the lectern dressed like a cosplaying Muammar Gaddafi in a military uniform?!? And that’s not going to be the weirdest part because, from that point forward, he will demand to be introduced every time he walks into a room as:
"His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Donald J. Trump Proudboy, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea, and Conqueror of the Danish Empire in Greenland in General and United States of America in Particular." And he will probably offer to become the King of Scotland.
